Belo-Horizonte is the capital of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. There are approximately 3 million people living in Belo-Horizonte. Currently there are 12 congregations spread throughout the city. There are approxamently 1300 members of the church in the city of Belo-Horizonte. The missionary that we are supporting is Ricardo Maia. He has been serving the Lord in the mission field in Brazil since 1994. He has his Bachelor of Arts degree from Harding University and he majored in Bible and Psychology with a minor in Greek. At the present time he works with the Alipio de Melo Church of Christ. He also is the director of the Pines Retreat Youth Camp which is located just outside of Helo-Horizonte.
MISSIONS - Update from our Brother Ricardo: This last two months have been really busy for me as I have been working towards several projects at the same time. We are being blessed by the LST group (Lets start Talking.) who has been helping us with classes in English as a way to evangelize people who speak some English. More than 40 people total are participating in this program. I also started teaching a Basic English class every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at Palmeiras Church. We have at least 30 people participating in these classes. We have also been working hard getting the camp ready for the campaign we will have from the 14-21 of July with the group coming from Florence – Alabama. Please keep us in your prayers as we become all things to all men so we can win some for Christ. Rick
